Before becoming a lawyer, scientifically and legally trained Stanley Chaney (of British origin) was a journalist with La Recherche, a French popular science magazine, and then with Le Monde, the famous French daily. He started his legal career advising Anglo-Saxon clients wishing to set up subsidiaries in France as well as clients looking for development opportunities in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

A co-founder of the law firm Chaney, Connor, Lemétais & Associés (now Lmt Avocats), Stanley Chaney specializes as legal advisor and judicial and arbitral litigation counsel in national and international commercial disputes, industrial product liability matters, and more generally in the field of industrial risk and insurance.

His skills extend to all aspects of the liability of manufacturers and turnkey plant engineers in the associated fields of construction, insurance, environment, and patent infringement.

Stanley Chaney has taught commercial and company law at the University of Paris Sud and regularly lectures for IBA (the International Bar Association) and FBLS (the Franco-British Lawyers Society) of which he is President for France and for which he organizes specialized colloquia both in France and in Great Britain. He is also a member of the ICC (the International Chamber of Commerce) on whose Arbitration and IP committees he sits.

He is also regularly called upon as independent arbitrator in international commercial disputes between parties of very diverse cultures and origins, as well as arbitrator for the ICC (the International Chamber of Commerce) in Paris. His name is on the lists of arbitrators drawn up by WIPO (the World Intellectual Property Organization) in Geneva, LCIA (the London Court of International Arbitration) in London, the Dubai International Arbitration Center, ASA (the Swiss Arbitration Association), and the Dispute Board Federation in Geneva.
